Yoga Poses to Energize Your Morning

Hey there, 5th graders! Did you know that doing yoga in the morning can help wake up your body and mind? It’s true! Yoga is a super cool way to stretch your muscles, get energized, and feel awesome before you start your day. Let’s check out some easy yoga poses that you can try right at home.

  1. Mountain Pose (Tadasana)
Stand up tall with your feet together. Reach your arms up high over your head and stretch like you’re trying to touch the sky. Take a big breath in and feel your whole body wake up!
  2. Forward Fold (Uttanasana)
Bend forward slowly and let your hands hang down towards your toes. Bend your knees a little if it feels tight. Hang out here for a few breaths and feel the stretch in your back and legs.
  3. Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
Start on your hands and knees. Push your hips up towards the sky and straighten your legs so your body looks like an upside-down “V”. Stretch your arms out in front of you and feel your back and legs getting stronger.
  4. Tree Pose (Vrikshasana)
Stand on one leg and place the sole of your other foot against your inner thigh or calf. Bring your hands together in front of your chest like you’re saying hello. Balance and breathe, then switch to the other leg.
  5. Child’s Pose (Balasana)
Kneel down, sit on your heels, and fold your body forward so your forehead touches the ground. Stretch your arms out in front of you or rest them by your sides. This pose helps you relax and catch your breath.

Remember, yoga isn’t about being perfect – it’s about feeling good and having fun! Try these poses in the morning or anytime you need a little pick-me-up. You’ll see how awesome it feels to start your day with yoga. Have fun stretching and energizing your body!

Namaste! (That means “the light in me honors the light in you”. Cool, right?)
